Solar Power
Plants love the sun, so we bring it to them.
All of the lights in our grow room are powered by solar panels. Our rooftop solar offsets up to 14,500 kWh annually, avoiding ~6.5 tons of CO₂ and saving ~$2,175 in grid energy.
Notional Solar Generation, Avoidance, & Savings*
*Annual kWh = System size (kW) × Specific yield (kWh/kW/yr)
Generation: 14,500 kWh/yr
CO₂ avoided: 13,050 lb/yr (≈ 6.5 tons)
Savings: $2,175/yr
Rain Catch & Filtration
"A little rain is a good thing." (Bryan, 2009) Jacksonville receives up to 50 inches of rain every year. Why not use some of it?
Our rain-catch system can supply up to ~20,000 gallons of irrigation water per year, easing demand on municipal water.
Inline filtration systems ensure that our plants receive only the cleanest and highest quality water.
Notional Annual Capture*
*Gallons = Area (sq ft) × Rain (in/yr) × 0.623 × Runoff coefficient
1000 × 50 = 40,000; 40,000 × 0.623 = 24,920; 24,920 × 0.8 = 19,936
Compostable Packaging
Single use shouldn't mean landfill. Our products are shipped in fully home compostable polylactic acid bags. The worms love it, the dirt loves it, we love it.
"[Polylactic acid] is a product that’s derived from a plant. Usually, the plant is corn but it could be sugar or sugar beets. It is a product that, in the production process, can be made clear and resembles a standard poly bag. PLA products are compostable and made from sustainable materials." (ClearBags, 2025)*
By using compostable pouches, we avoid ~143 lb. of virgin plastic and ~360 lb. of CO₂e annually.**

**Virgin plastic avoided (lb) ≈
(Units/year × 18 g per pouch) ÷ 453.592
**CO₂e note: assuming ~2.5 kg CO₂e/kg plastic = ~360 lb
CO₂e avoided
Closed Loop Bulk Shipping
Remember the milk man? We don't, but we think their system was pretty dialed in.
All of our bulk orders are packaged in reusable glass jars and shipped in reusable packaging with a provided return label. This practice encourages our business customers to help us eliminate up to 60% of single use glass and cardboard annually.
